While Fall is hands down my favorite season, Spring is a time when it feels like the world is waking up again after a long cold slumber. It's a time to lighten our layers, colors and textures in our closets. Every closet should be built upon a foundation of basics and they benefit from seasonal tweaking. Here I am sharing items I find to be essential to my spring wardrobe!

Light Wash Denim in the spring feels fresh and easy! In the winter I gravitate towards darker washes and black denim, but there is nothing like a light wash jean and a white shirt to feel ready for warmer days! I have these Mother denim - and the price is steep, but they are amazing. I also love the Levis wedgie fit jeans - the high cotton count makes them a stiffer denim but so flattering.
White jeans are something I do wear year round, however, the spring and summer is when they are in heavy rotation. I have skinny, distressed, straight leg and a pair of wide leg in an off white color - I love them all!
White Sneakers & Mules are my most worn shoes in spring. It's not quite warm enough out for sandals, but it is such a relief to let the ankles breath and step out of the boots! I own the Walmart sneakers and the Old Navy mules. The Veja sneakers and Nisolo mules are on my wish list!
Beige pants whether linen, trousers or khakis are a great way to bring some ease into your work wear. We are seeing a lot of menswear inspired trousers like the pair from Abercrombie here. I have always loved my pull on linen pants, such an easy pant to wear and style.
Linen Blazer, or any blazer, is a spring layering staple. With uncertain and fluctuating temperatures having a chic layer is key to a sophisticated look. This season we are seeing more over sized flowy blazers and linen is having its moment in the form of blazers!
White button down tops are a year round staple in my closet. I particularly like to have a short sleeve white button down in the spring. Whether worn on its own or layered under a jacket of cardigan it's an easy piece that always looks classic! The Target long sleeve has great texture and the Courier shirt from Madewell is a favorite piece in my closet - it's not see through and has great drape.
Striped tee, oh striped tee how I love thee! Every closet should have a good fitting white tee, black tee and striped tee. These 3 basics will coordinate with so many bottoms and layer so wonderfully under so many others. The striped tee is particularly fun when mixed with another pattern like a floral skirt if you are feeling bold!
Trench Coat outfits automatically make me feel like a boss! Something about the trench empowers me and makes me feel like a grown up in charge! I got lucky and found my Banana Republic petite trench coat at a Goodwill for a steal - definitely consider shopping second hand for this gem as I often see them.
What basics would you add to this list?
